Selfie has combined a character from the ancient time and objects like the drink, the selfie stick and phone from the modern world to illustrate surrealism. Back when phones were yet to be invented, painting might be the medium to allow people to travel through times to get to eternity.Having one’s portrait done used to be a privilege of the wealth in the past, and yet the character in the painting – who looks to be a blueblood or royalty from her outfits and accessories - was holding a selfie stick and a phone taking a picture of herself, that every person owns nowadays, you can see that having one’s image recorded is no longer something exclusive to the rich. Does this painting give you a sense of resemblance to Andy Warhol's saying of “everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”?
